1. Notation
C-  : 	hold the control key down as press second key
F#  : 	function key
ALT- : 	hold the ALT key down as press next key
SHIFT- : hold the SHIFT key down as press next key
RETURN : indicates that the RETURN or ENTER key on computer should be hit
ESC : 	indicates the Escape (ESC) key on computer should be hit
" " : 	encloses key sequence to enter (do not type the quotes)
{}  : 	enclosed a specific example

3. Introduction to Chinese<->English<->PinYin dictionary

3.1 to activate the dictionary, type "dgb" at the DOS prompt
	(DOS commands can still be entered as usual)

3.2 Basic Usage: 
3.2.1 for PinYin entry type "p {pinyin to search}"
 	In this system: tones are represented: 1(flat),2(rising),3,4(falling), and light which is not marked. The 'u' of girl is entered as 'uu' [nuu3(girl), lu4(road),luu4(green).]  The "r" sound is entered er [yi2hui4er is correct, yi2hui4r is not]
	For example to search for the English and Chinese characters corresponding to zhong1guo2 (China) one would type either:
	p zhong1guo2
	p zhong1guo
3.2.2 for English entry type "e {English word to search}"
	For example to search for the Chinese character and pinyin corresponding to China one would enter:
	e China
3.2.3 for Chinese character entry:
3.2.3.1 type "c"
3.2.3.2 In EBYX (see Section 4) enter the desired character, followed by C-X,C-Z.

3.3 Format of the output:
3.3.1 Chinese Character
3.3.2 Grammar(ie noun, verb, proper noun, proverb. see grammar.byx)
3.3.3 PinYin
3.3.4 English Translation
3.3.5 Example of usage (ie for measure words, complicated usage words)
3.3.6 Scripture Reference: Book-Chapter-Verse
3.3.7 Reference to Text book or source. if format is 12A45, then
3.3.7 if the format is a two digit number, a letter,  a 2 digit number then:
3.3.7.1 the first two digits give the unit number in the text book
3.3.7.2 the letter gives the source of the information
		M: Practical Chinese Reader (PCR) -- Main Vocabulary List
		P: Practical Chinese Reader (PCR) -- Proper Names Vocabulary List
		S: Practical Chinese Reader (PCR) -- Supplementary Vocabulary List
		G: Textbook at GuoYuRiBao in Taibei.
3.3.7.3 the remaining 2 digits give its word number in the lesson.
	for .example: 21m16 => PCR Lesson 21 main vocabulary list word #16
3.4 To view the complicated (Taiwan) equivelent of the character type 
SHIFT-F6.
