After receiving his BS in Chemistry from National Taiwan University (1976), he continued his studies in the areas of Material Science and Engineering, receiving his Masters and Ph.D. from the University of Texus (Austin) and University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign) in 1979 and 1984 respectively. Returning to Taiwan, he served at National Tsinghua University before coming to Yuan Ze University in 2005. Winner of both teaching and research awards, he is currently focussing his research on nanostructured materials and materials for energy applications.
